Mitsuki, a Japanese female dancer, and Jian, a Korean male dancer, meet in Jeju on the southern island of Korea. Mitsuki’s grandfather served as a kamikaze pilot in Jeju during the Japanese occupation, and was killed by American bombers in a suicide attack. Jian’s grandfather endured hardships when the Japanese military took his land and forced labor, but was slaughtered by the South Korean army in the liberated fatherland. They look back on the sad history, imagining that their grandfathers might have met each other. By dancing together at sunset, they comfort the souls of all those who died.
