Immersive production studio TARGO has won the Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Media for Crafting Crimes, an interactive series that invites viewers to step into miniature recreations of historic crime scenes through mixed reality.

Wearing a mixed reality headset, viewers build a dollhouse-sized reconstruction of a historic crime scene on a table in front of them. Guided by Carol K. Rasaphangthong, the miniaturist and host of the series, viewers move the story forward as they place the walls and objects that make up each scene.
The first episode, released in October 2025 and centered on the Lizzie Borden murders, is available for free on Meta Quest headsets. Two additional episodes, covering the Wonderland murders and the theft of the Mona Lisa, are available for purchase. Crafting Crimes has already reached more than 150,000 users and holds a 4.7/5 rating based on more than 400 reviews on the Meta Quest Store. The series was first presented to the public at SXSW and was selected for Venice Immersive 2026.
The award marks a major milestone for French immersive storytelling on the international stage. By winning a Primetime Emmy recognizing creative and technological innovation, TARGO demonstrates that an independent French studio can create and distribute original formats alongside leading American studios and companies.
The recognition opens a new chapter for TARGO as the studio looks to accelerate the development of immersive formats with the potential to become international franchises. TARGO now aims to build stronger bridges with television, film, and entertainment, bringing its expertise in emerging technologies to ambitious documentary storytelling.
The award was presented by the Television Academy during Emmy Awards Night One on September 5 in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air on the U.S. network FXX on September 12.
