Disneynature’s Wolf: an immersive experience

Ellesmere Island, Canada sits deep in the far north, 250 miles from the nearest human settlement. Few people will ever witness firsthand the stark beauty of this remote Arctic peninsula or encounter the animals that call it home, but immersive video offers a rare opportunity to come close. Join the wildlife filmmakers of Silverback Productions as they enter this extraordinary landscape, observing vast polar terrain and the Arctic wolves who inhabit it while patiently and responsibly earning their trust. This project is a companion to the all-new Disneynature film coming to Disney+ in 2027. MAIN CREATOR’S STATEMENT Since first visiting Ellesmere Island in 2005, I have been trying to communicate the experience and emotions of interacting with truly wild animals in a stunning yet remote location. Doing this through traditional 2D narrative storytelling always falls short as most of humanity have never had the privilege of contact with wild wolves in the way that one can experience in Ellesmere. Immersive filmmaking gave us, for the first time, the space, time, environment and methodology to situate our audience alongside us, and allowed us to discuss some deeper meditations that wildlife filmmakers experience when producing their craft.
