PatchXR AG, the team behind the innovative creative universe PatchWorld, is proud to announce its upcoming launch on Steam for PC VR on 29th October 2026.
Originally released for Meta Quest in 2022, unlocking the ability to design and build in VR like never before. With the SteamVR launch, this will see the arrival of PatchWorld 2.0, heralding the studio’s next step in its ambitions. Not simply a Steam port, but an evolution in the way digital creators can engage and collaborate, gamers can play and experiment, and musicians visualise new melodies. All inside a live spatial world that can be remixed and shared with everyone.
PatchWorld allows creators to construct systems, connect ideas, and experiment with interactions. They can make music, build machines, create art, and host live performances from inside their worlds. Or visit other worlds and see what everyone else is working on, discuss their PatchWorld experiments, and invite them to share their projects. Creators can even remix other creators’ ideas into something new and unexpected.
In PatchWorld, there is no limit to what you can create, made all the easier thanks to its modular “patching” system. Taking inspiration from synthesisers, grab and connect blocks to make sounds, or a helicopter or a light show. Ideas and projects can grow exponentially as you discover PatchWorld’s myriad of tools.
“PatchWorld has always been about creating a radically playful and open creative environment, with one leitmotif: if you can imagine it, can you patch it? Our ambition is to let people patch anything to anything, live and together,” said Mélodie Mousset, Artist, CEO and co-founder of PatchXR.
“When people from art, music, design, animation, games and worldbuilding share the same creative language, unexpected ideas and new collaborations become possible. We want creators to connect things that normally live in separate tools and disciplines, and to play and experiment with them together, on the fly, while everything is running. That radical modularity, openness and spirit of playful experimentation is at the heart of PatchWorld.”
