InnerspaceVR Announces SPYMASTER, a Time-Bending Spy Thriller for Meta Quest and SteamVR

InnerspaceVR today announced SPYMASTER, a new action-narrative VR title coming to Early Access on Meta Quest and SteamVR on May 7, 2026.

Set in a world where private surveillance has replaced public intelligence, SPYMASTER casts players as operatives of NODE, the last independent spy agency still standing. As governments have dissolved their own intelligence services in favor of Protocore, a global surveillance system led by the mysterious PROTUS, NODE is left to uncover the truth behind a growing threat before it is too late.

Operating from a secret command center hidden inside a trawler boat, players are deployed on missions across the world with the help of C.A.S.S.E.T.T.E., NODE’s briefing and intelligence device. In the field, they take control of TIC, Mulligan and OSCR, three operatives with distinct skills, gadgets and personalities. Each mission can be approached in different ways, from discreet infiltration to full-speed action, with success depending on how well players combine the abilities of each operative.

At the center of the experience is the game’s Temporal Replay System, which allows players to rewind time with a flick of the wrist. This mechanic lets them revisit specific moments in a mission, adjust their movements, change timing, reposition themselves or coordinate more effectively between operatives. Whether passing an item between characters, refining a shot or correcting a sequence under pressure, players are able to use time itself as part of the mission.

“It all started with a native VR experiment: recording organic avatar actions,” said Jeremy Moirano, Game Director on SPYMASTER. “We were using this technique for animation placeholders long before The Last Clockwinder hit the scene. That initial idea grew into a core gameplay mechanic built around assisting your past self to solve puzzles. As the system evolved, we focused on making every action feel tactile and satisfying, which naturally pushed the game toward the spy thriller it is today.”

SPYMASTER combines narrative-driven missions, traversal, puzzles and combat within a stylized espionage framework. Players will run, climb, slide, zipline and shoot their way through a series of high-risk scenarios, while optional side challenges extend the experience beyond the main campaign.

SPYMASTER will launch in Early Access on Meta Quest and SteamVR on May 7, 2026.
